Casa Maite is located in a very convenient location to, withouth driving, from the door of your apartment, start many different walks for all levels, even with children.
You can download the following maps of the area. At your arrival we will provide you with directions for you to enjoy your walks.
Mirador del Barranco del Poqueira
This walk is one of our favourites, starting in Bubion up to the ridge of the Poqueira gorge with the most spectacular views. You see the 3 villages, Capileira, Bubion and Pampaneira, The high peaks of Sierra Nevada, El Veleta. To the south you look towards the Mediterranean and the mountain ranges of Malaga (Axarquia). On clear days, on the horizon of the sea you can see the Rif mountains of Marokko. Simply spectacular. From there you could follow the GR7 down towards Pitres or just return to Casa Maite following the same path. The estimated duration of the way round to the viewpoint is around 2 hours and 15 min.

Poqueira’s Villages route
This walk, perfectly described on this link from Capileira Town Hall website proposes a route through the three main villages at Poqueira’s ravine, Pampaneira, Bubion and Capileira. The described route starts at Pampaneira and pass along Casa Maite towards Capileira.
Our proposal is to split the described route into two different excursions, one starting at Casa Maite towards Capileira nad another starting at Casa Maite towards Pampaneira. So, you will not need to drive. The route from Bubion to Capileira takes around 2:45 hours (way round) and the route from Bubion to Pampaneira takes about 1:15 hours (way round)
The high Alpujarra is a paradise for trekking and nature lovers. In Capileira’s town hall website you will find other routes such as Sulayr path passing through Capileira (Sulayr path is a circular path about 300km long) which will delight the most experienced trekkers.
